Peter M. Lewis
Peter Lewis (PhD) is Emeritus Associate Professor at London Metropolitan University. After introducing community access programming as manager of Bristol Channel, one of the UK's pilot cable TV stations in the 1970s, he became an advocate for community media, a field in which, as an academic, he has researched and published extensively. The Invisible Medium (1989), co-authored with Jerry Booth, is still widely cited. Other more recent publications include From the Margins to the Cutting Edge: community media and empowerment (2006, co-edited with Susan Jones), Promoting Social Cohesion: the Role of Community Media, a report for the Council of Europe (2008), and »Community media policy« in Atton, C. (ed) The Routledge Companion to Alternative and Community Media (2015).
